Senior Bioinformatician (NGS Application Scientist)

In our journey to impact on patients' lives, we are currently looking for a Senior Bioinformatician to join the Bundle Solution Development team in the Bioinformatics and Data Science department of SOPHiA GENETICS in USA.
 
SOPHiA GENETICS provides a Data Driven Platform for NGS-based clinical diagnostic products. As a Senior Bioinformatician you will explore diverse clinical genomic datasets to assess the performance of currently available NGS assays on market and help develop the next generation of SOPHiA GENETICS bioinformatics products.
 
We are seeking a candidate with extensive experience of conducting genomic projects involving DNA/RNA bioinformatics pipelines in an academic or industry setting. It would be a great plus if you are familiar with capture-based target sequencing approach applied in the field of oncology. Your main roles would include assessing the quality of diverse NGS datasets and exploring factors that affect their performances in terms of coverage uniformity, library conversation rate, variant calling (i.e., that lead to false positive or false negative results) and etc. All of the achievements would essentially help develop or improve SOPHiA GENETICS NGS-based applications.
 
Requirements
 
PhD and/or several years postdoc or industry experience in bioinformatics and NGS data analysis and proven to conduct independent research.
Strong publication record in the field of genomics
Extensive experience with exploratory data analysis and visualization using either R or Python.
Strong background in cancer cell biology will be a plus
Capacity to work in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary environment
Working Permit Status: US citizen, green card holder or other qualified working permit in US. Sophia Genetics would not sponsor working permit application for this position.
