Internship Junior Biostatistician

In our journey to impact patient lives, we are looking for a Junior Biostatistician (6 months Internship) to join our Data Science - Radiomics Research team in Pessac (33, Bordeaux).

Internship title : Development of predictive signatures using multimodal data for treatment response and prognosis of patients with advanced lung cancer.

Context:

SOPHiA GENETICS is carrying out an international multicentric research project on patients with advanced lung cancer treated in the first-line setting. In these patients, clinical, biological, genomic and radiomics (quantitative markers extracted from medical images) data have been collected before treatment initiation. Primary and secondary study objectives are to predict the post-treatment prognosis of each patient using the aggregation of these pre-treatment multimodal data. This research project aims at developing data-driven medicine, by delivering patient-specific predictive signatures to help clinicians making their decisions in the patient care path.

Aims:

The Data Science-Radiomics teams are in charge of the predictive analyses. In particular, the Biostatistics Research team uses advanced machine learning techniques to provide predictions which are both accurate, robust, and reliable. This task ranges from the exploration of multimodal data to the deployment of prediction models into production with best practices (Python, Gitlab, Azure ML, Docker, ...). In this context, the objectives of the internship are the following:

• To develop predictive signatures related to advanced lung cancer patients treated in the first-line setting,
• To assess the added value of several kinds of data within the predictive models, such as:
  • Several considered targets for radiomics features extraction (from one tumor, multiple tumors, whole lung, metastases, …),
  • Several acquisition modes and extraction modes of radiomic characteristics (image features parametrization, deep features, …).
