Intern (Business Development)

In our journey to positively impact patients' lives, we are currently looking for an Intern (Business Development) for a 6 or 12 months internship contract. This role reports to the Senior Director / Vice President of Business Development.

As an Intern (Business Development) you will have the opportunity to contribute to SOPHiA's business development strategy. Business development plays a critical role in the strategic growth of SOPHiA by leading partnering initiatives and executing various types of transactions to shape our product / commercial roadmap and enable our platform to impact patients globally. You will support Business Development team in driving a portfolio of partnering opportunities and collaborate with functional leaders to drive strategic deals to execution. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, are success-orientated, and you can work independently, you may be the right candidate to join our team.

Your main tasks will be:

  • Conduct market intelligence to gather market data to support our Business Development strategy analysis
  • Conduct and coordinate in-depth analysis on market size, market segments, market trends and competition landscape evolution
  • Support the Business Development team in conducting due diligence processes and support other prioritized business development initiatives and activities as needed
  • Collaborate with stakeholders within R&D, finance, legal, commercial, medical and alliance management to elaborate reports
  • Create presentations and materials to facilitate internal communication across various corporate functions

Requirements

  • Minimum of BS or BA from accredited institution with major in biology, business / finance, or related fields.
  • Initial experience in a professional business development, alliance management or investment banking experience in life sciences is a serious plus.
  • Efficient in self-managing deadlines, prioritising assignments, and delivering outputs with high attention to detail
  • Must have demonstrated communication and organisational skills both; Experience in preparing/presenting key information to stakeholders and management.
  • Curiosity and a thirst for knowledge, bringing fresh perspectives to our projects
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strategic mindset that is highly analytical and detail-oriented
  • Ability to distill massive amounts of complex information into digestible formats that lead to productive discussions
  • Self-starter, low-ego, mentality and a willingness to always go the extra mile with an Entrepreneurial mindset
