We are looking for an experienced Telemetry, Tracking & Command (TT&C) Subsystem Engineer to join our development and customer program for our HummingSat GEO satellite product line.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Responsible for spacecraft TT&C subsystem, working with our satellite program team and our external partners and suppliers.
  • Ensure the TT&C subsystem complies with all requirements.
  • Develop and maintain TT&C link budgets.
  • Analyse technical trade-offs and present solutions to the program team.
  • Prepare and/or review technical documentation in support of all tasks including unit level requirement flow-down and verification.
  • Develop relationships with TT&C unit suppliers and partners, working with them to Design, Manufacture, Assemble, Integrate and Test each component in the subsystem.
  • Define and prepare SoWs and specifications, contribute to problem solving and ensuring successful deliveries.
  • Manage Encryption keys when appropriate for the program
  • Develop system-level test plans for the TT&C subsystem at the Spacecraft level
  • Assist Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) staff in testing and resolving test anomalies
  • Support the launch and initial operations of the Spacecraft prior to hand-off to the customer on-orbit
  • Support customer requests during the on-orbit operations of the Hummingsat satellites.
  • Occasionally, you will be asked to participate in overall tasks and services inherent to a dynamic fast-growing company

Required experience and competencies:

  • Extensive experience with spacecraft TT&R subsystems and/or digital payload engineering, preferably for 5 years or more.
  • Real-world experience with system architecture, requirements definition, flow down, tracking and performing system-level analyses in support of trade studies.
  • Good understanding of principles for spacecraft design, manufacturing, assembly, integration, test and operation.
  • Proven ability to trade-off and know when and how to optimize performance, resolve complex technical problems, manage technical work with partners, conduct technical development projects.
  • Experience with spacecraft encryption protocol is a plus.
  • Excellent customer focus with experience with managing customer and supplier interfaces.
  • Proven ability to “think outside of the box” and thrive in challenging trade-off parameter space.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear technical documentation of high quality.
  • Able to work on a self-initiated basis, while being part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and ease at working across different cultures and different levels of an organization.
  • Master or PhD degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering or Applied Physics or reasonably equivalent.
  • Language: Fluent English is a prerequisite, skills in French are a plus.

Working conditions and contract:

SWISSto12 offers a full-time contract with an attractive compensation package. This position will b based from our Foster City office and will require occasional travel between the North America and Europe to work with our teams and suppliers at both locations. In addition, this role will be closely involved with the satellite AIT campaign and will require onsite presence in Southern California during the AIT campaign
