Test and Validation Engineer

We are actively seeking a Test and Validation Engineer based in our Taipei offices, Taiwan:

 

Responsibility and Authority

  • Provide best in class support to customers and ODMs, to resolve challenging technical issues and ensure successful integration of Kandou’s IP and product solution.
  • Support customers and the field team during product design, onsite testing and/or product certification with requirements, design specifications, Electrical testing, Interop testing and system debugging
  • Stay informed regarding test and specification requirements and ensure the Taiwan lab test environment is up to date regarding test equipment and software for current and future Kandou products
  • Maintain all technical capabilities in the lab and bring up new spec/ technologies
  • Perform protocol validation of Kandou products using compliance tools as such as data exerciser, analyzer and compliance test suite
  • Support technical sales and marketing efforts including project scoping, time cost estimation and technical planning/ seminars
  • Documentation of test results and procedures
  • Debug and assist in resolving technical issues regarding compliance testing

 

Required Competencies – Experience

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience using lab and debug equipment such as high-speed oscilloscopes, BERT, utilities, test fixtures, Network Analyzer, TDR and other test automation tools used for interrogation of high-speed signals
  • In depth understanding and knowledge of some of the following protocols: Thunderbolt, USB3.2, USB4, DisplayPort and PCIe
  • Electrical compliance testing (CTS) and/or functional validation experience with the above technologies
  • Familiar with working with standards, test specifications and ensuring DUT meets the specifications
  • Working with either the test industry recognised test houses (e.g. for USB: https://www.usb.org/labs) and/or ODMs/in-house to successfully pass electrical compliance
  • Manufacturing experience in ODM/ OEM/Test Lab is a plus
  • Appreciation and knowledge regarding electronic circuit design, PCB Layout and Signal Integrity; hands-on experience is a plus
  • Protocol interoperability testing and debug capability is desirable
  • Fluent in English both spoken and written

 

Required Competencies – Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in EE, CE or equivalent work experience
  • Strong communications skills, comfortable interfacing at all levels internally and within customers’ organizations
  • Track record of testing end systems designs to allow progression to mass production
  • Strong team-player and practical hands-on problem solver
  • Ability to multitask in a high energy environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and enthusiasm for solving customer problems in a collaborative manner
  • Comfortable interfacing and dealing with the demands of the largest electronics, OEMs, ODMs companies in the consumer electronics market
  • Testing high-speed interface technologies (e.g., USB/ TBT/ DisplayPort/ HDMI/ PCIe/)
  • Direct experience running and debugging USB or PCIe compliance test software
  • Diagnosing compliance test failures root cause and determining the necessary corrective action on the end system’s design
