Android Developer Intern

Starting date: February 2023

Requirements

Your role:

  • Spend your 6 month internship with us.
  • Join our Applications software team, working on our Cockpit application (native Android written in Kotlin / Java), which our clients use to fly their drone. The app shows live video and 3D mapping information, as well as relaying telemetry and flight control instructions. You can see a clip of the app on the Flyability website, under ‘3D Live Map’ on the Products > Elios 3 page.
  • Take on a range of projects, enhancing this app, for example to control and visualize the data from new drone payloads and sensors.
  • Work with our relaxed, friendly, and experienced team; learn from them; and gain experience working on a professional software project.

We expect you to be focused, motivated, and excited about cutting-edge drone tech and about your part in bringing it to more customers, more effectively. We hope that you love coding, but that also you naturally think about the ‘why’ of what you’re doing, and about how to make your work most useful and meaningful to your users.

Your profile:

You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in Computer Science, Maths, Microengineering or related major, and have a strong record of academic achievement. You are an autonomous, self-motivated and curious individual who is not afraid of the unknown and is willing to learn fast.

You have good knowledge in some of the following:

  • Android software development
  • Kotlin or Java
  • object-oriented programming and design skills
  • good knowledge of the Android framework and best practices : UI design, MVP/MVVM and Clean architecture
  • experience in graphical user interfaces, a sense for good design and usability
  • git for version control
  • Software delivery quality procedures: unit / integration / instrumented testing, continuous integration, test-driven development is a plus.
