Lead Technical Artist

We are putting together a new team for a project that aims to speed up the development of exciting features for the students and teachers using Labster. We are looking for a Lead Technical Artist (Unity) to help us deliver a high performance experience.

This is your chance to join an early stage project within a successful startup/ scale-up and shape the project's future. We are using Unity as the main game engine for our product and we are looking to rebuild our asset creation pipeline and asset lifecycle management to enable us to create an amazing experience for our users.

This position can be done from our office in Valencia (hybrid model) or remote.

Responsibilities:

  • Defining and implementing asset pipeline and workflows from several content creation tools to ingestion and management in Unity engine in collaboration with the art and engineering team

  • Understanding technical and art needs to define a balance between the two for the content creation and content management process

  • Creating and optimizing graphical assets and shaders in collaboration with the art team

  • Defining and implementing asset tooling inside Unity in collaboration with engineering, content creators and product

  • Driving and participating in conversations and decisions regarding asset creation, management and optimization

  • Constantly evolving and improving assets, pipelines and workflows to utilize Unity latest features

  • Fostering a technical art community involved in constant exchange of ideas, best practices, skills and innovation across teams

Skills:

  • 3+ experience with Unity3D. Deep understanding of Unity asset management and configuration workflows

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the capacity to adapt the communication style to suit different audiences

  • Deep understanding of Unity Asset bundles and Addressable asset systems

  • Strong knowledge of Unity universal render pipeline, shaders, materials and lighting

  • Strong knowledge of WebGL, Android, iOS platform requirements and limitations regarding graphical assets

  • You have been part of shipping multiple titles or products preferably on mobile platforms and tool packages using Unity3D

  • Experience working with FBX format and content creation tools, preferably Blender

  • Experience optimizing graphical assets and shaders in Unity mobile platforms

  • Experience working with Git version control

Bonus skills

  • Experience with gamified education

  • Experience with content creation tools 2D or 3D

  • Experience of working with VR

  • Experience in character design and character animation

  • C# coding experience

  • Understanding of asset build processes and product release cycle

  • Experience using one or more commercial game engines
