Investment Partner

Alexander Schlaepfer

Rowing taught me that a team stroking in perfect sync can outpace a group of stronger individuals not rowing in-phase. This is why, in founder teams, I look for cohesion and strong alignment on goals.

Alexander Schläpfer is a managing partner at Swisscom Ventures, where he leads new investments and oversees multiple portfolio companies.

Before joining Swisscom Ventures in 2016, Alexander co-founded and served as a partner at Aster Capital in Paris, a VC fund at the time backed by Schneider Electric, Alstom, and Solvay. During his time there, he led investments in key sectors such as renewable energy, energy storage, industrial IT, data analytics, and IoT.

Earlier in his career, Alexander held senior roles at Alstom, where he was responsible for Strategy, M&A, Sales, and Marketing for the company’s €3.5 billion Power Service division. He also gained significant operational experience at ABB in the Middle East. In 2006, Alexander co-founded and chaired the first robotics startup at ETH Zürich focused on industrial inspections.

Alexander’s investment focus includes robotics, machine vision, industrial digital twins, AgTech, and enterprise productivity solutions (SaaS). He is passionate about helping entrepreneurs build globally recognized businesses known for their innovation and product excellence.

On a personal note: Outside of his professional life, Alexander is an avid rower, spending many early mornings on Lake Zurich. He heads the rowing section at the Club Nautique Français in Zurich and coaches teams in competitions at a national level.
